Building from the caliper brakes Layhams, the Layhams Disc takes the experiences and runs – nay sprints – with it. Removing the caliper brake mounts and adding discs not only increases safety and braking performance whatever the weather but also aids with clearance around those bigger 30C tyres – perfect for when you fancy something a little more mixed than a full black top ride.
Stainless steel resists the worst that the elements can throw at it, whilst offering enough comfort to allow you to come back for more in the days that follow. And all without numbing any of the sensations that make getting out there into the lanes so engaging. With room for 28mm tyres plus full mudguards, it will weather any climate – year round, and protect you from the elements on the longest of rides. No Audax too far, no winter group ride too long.
Triple butted Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel, the 17-4PH / Carpenter Custom 630 chemistry tube set is used from tip to toe on the Layhams, with full mechanical and Di2 compatible cable routing. Like the Palace:R, we favoured external cabling for mechanical gearing to ease on-the-fly maintenance and lubrication, but when fitting Di2 or other electronic groupsets, we wanted clean lines, so we developed the removable cable routing system that leaves no bosses in place when running a digital rather than analogue set up.
Without guards, 30mm plus tyres fit within the frame, 12mm thru axles not only keep the ride bang on track, but also aid the fast and repeatably accurate slotting in of the wheels. A 27.2 seat tube size continues the long distance comfort compatibility. It’s simply no more than you deserve.
